Youth MINISTRIES
ABOUTYouth Ministries calls for passion, patience, and faithfulness – pointing out the sacred in the midst of the chaos of adolescence and walking faithfully with young people as they transition from child to young adult. Youth Ministries is a bridging ministry of education, connection, formation, and hopefully, transformation.
In the Diocese of Hawai'i, youth programs are run by the individual congregations although there are opportunities for activities on the diocesan, provincial and national level. In recent years, a relationship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) brought youth together in monthly joint activities on O'ahu, that included the summer youth camp at Camp Mokule'ia.

NATIONALLY & WORLDWIDE:The Episcopal Church strives to walk with young people on their journeys from childhood to adulthood, recognizing their gifts for ministry, their questions about spirituality, and their desire to make a difference in the world. The Youth Ministries Office is grounded in the Five Marks of Mission and the Baptismal Covenant, building churchwide networks to invite, inspire, affirm, and equip youth for discipleship and Christian leadership in their lives and their communities. EPISCOPAL YOUTH EVENT (EYE)
Every three years, The Episcopal Church puts on its signature Episcopal Youth Event (EYE) to bring together high school youth from all Episcopal Churches around the world. Over 3 days, they engage in worship, workshops and listen to dynamic guest speakers. In 2014, EYE14 took place at Villanova University (pictured above) in Philadelphia in July, and Hawai'i took a full delegation. It was followed by urban mission. To read about this special event and to view photos and reflections from the Hawai'i delegation, click HERE. You can also visit the Diocese's Facebook page and view the EYE'14 Album. In July 2017, EYE17 will take place at University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma. For more information on this event, visit the EYE17 webpage HERE.

HUI PU: SUMMER YOUTH CAMP
A summer youth camp takes place at Camp Mokule'ia on O'ahu each year, and is broken down into three separate camps: Upper Elementary, Middle School and High School. All youth are invited to attend this deeply enriching and formative event that combines fun, exercise, creativity, worship, and fellowship.

AWAKE HIGH SCHOOL RETREAT
In March of 2014 and 2015, the Diocese sponsored a high school retreat called AWAKE that brought together high school youth from around the Diocese for a weekend of worship and fellowship. The retreats are planned in conjunction with the Hawaiian Island Ministries (HIM) Annual Conference at the Honolulu Convention Center, allowing our youth to experience 2-1/2 days of praise and worship with thousands of people of all denominations.
