"LET ALOHA LEAD YOUR WAY"

October 25-27, 2024
Camp Sloggett, Kaua'i, Hawai'i

The Episcopal Asiamerica Ministry (EAM) Young Adult Convocation is holding a retreat for Episcopal young adults in their 20s from across the United States.  This retreat will be held at Camp Sloggett on the island of Kaua‘i, from 1:00 pm on Friday, October 25, 2024, to 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 27. (We will meet/drop off in the Līhu‘e Airport area.)

The registration fee is $50 and this fee will help to cover lodging, ground transportation and meals. This retreat is limited to 24 young adults, so it is recommended that you register early.  Carolyn Morinishi is organizing the retreat logistics, including registration, venue, ground transportation and food.  Participants are welcome to make their own arrangements to extend their stay either before or after the retreat and enjoy other parts of the island of Kaua‘i.

The Rev. Keleawe Hee from Good Samaritan Church in Honolulu, will be the keynote speaker on the theme of "Let Aloha Lead Your Way."  Join him for a fun and interactive session where participants will lean about The Episcopal Church, what a vestry does, what convention is, and much more, while addressing any questions you may have.

Also on the schedule: team-building workshops, daily compline, meditation, hiking, historical tour, and Sunday service at St. John’s ‘Ele‘ele. Most importantly, we can form a network of EAM Young Adults from across the country.

What is Episcopal Asiamerica Ministry?

Picture
Asiamerican Ministries of The Episcopal Church encourages community and offers resources on mission work, church revitalization, and racial justice. As a ministry of The Episcopal Church, Episcopal Asiamerica Ministry (EAM) assists dioceses to start new Asian congregations and strengthen existing ones, and advocates for Asian empowerment at all levels of the church: seminarians, women, youth, clergy, and lay leaders.

Asian American or “Asiamerican” describes both Asian immigrants in the United States as well as Asian Americans born in the United States – Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Japanese, Southeast Asian (Vietnamese, Laotian, Hmong, Burmese), and South Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan). It also describes the relationship of Asians in the United States with the Asian Episcopalians and Asian Anglicans in the global Asian community.  For more information, visit The Epsicopal Church website HERE.
