PLENARY SESSIONS: This year's Convention Education Day focuses on the work of three of our Diocesan Ministries:  1. The Racial Reconciliation Task Force, 2. Environmental Justice & Creation Care Task Force, and 3. Community of Deacons.  Education Day will be split into three separate sessions, led by each of the teams.

OUTREACH ACTIVITY: Following the plenary sessions, folks can take part in assembling and sorting items for a few the Diocese's outreach programs to include the Prison Ministry PacPac project and food pantries.

OPENING EUCHARIST: At 4:00 PM, the Convention's Opening Eucharist takes place in St. Alban's Chapel, and will include the ordination of the Diocese's newest deacon.
  • Open Choir: If you would like to be a part of the open Diocesan-wide choir that will be singing during the service, be sure to select "Opening Eucharist" on the registration form, and then "Yes" for the choir.  If you have questions, you may contact the Rev. Canon Sandy Graham HERE.

ALOHA RECEPTION: The Aloha Reception follows under the tent outside of St. Alban's, with a delicious Hawaiian buffet.

COST:  The fee for the entire day's activities is $35

The Creation Care and Environmental Justice Task Force invites you to join us for Beat! That! Heat! -a game show where players contribute to climate solutions while having a great time.

The game is a 60 minute hybrid virtual/in-person experience where teams compete in ridiculous challenges while they learn about inspiring ways to cool the planet.

Drawdown? Check. Carbon Sinks? Check. 80s inspired dance-offs? Checkity-Check. Have fun AND learn how you can help reduce carbon together with your fellow Episcopalians in Hawaiʻi.
SESSION #3 2:00 PM-3:30 PM
Becoming a Deacon: A Special Ministry of Servanthood

Please join us for Plenary Session #3 as we delve into the role of Deacons, in The Episcopal Church.

What is a Deacon? Are you sensing a call to the Diaconate? Do you recognize a Deacon in someone else?

Learn about the Diaconate and how to discern your own interests as well as how to identify potential candidates in your own congregation. We will show you the process and how we can help remove potential obstacles holding anyone back from exploring this vocation, and the path to ordination.
