Leadership Training Day
A Leadership Training Day will be held on Friday, October 29, the day before the Annual Meeting of the Diocesan Convention at the Cathedral of St. Andrew, Honolulu. The day will include a variety of offerings for church leaders, including workshops for wardens and treasurers, a Safeguarding God’s Children workshop, training sessions for Eucharistic Visitors and for worship leaders, and diversity training.
Registration is now CLOSED in order to allow a reliable head count for meals and for presenters to prepare materials.

The day is set out in 50-minute blocks. Please note that most workshops last longer than one block of time. You are responsible for planning your day.

NUTS & BOLTS - 3 parts Peter Pereira, TreasurerPension, Taxes, Analyzing financial statements, Lease & contract requirements, Insurance, Statutory benefits, records management and other. Preventing embezzlement. Employees versus Independent Contractors. Duties & Responsibilities of the Treasurer.
DIVERSITY TRAINING - 6 parts - Diversity Commission Members
Recognizing and viewing racial and cultural differences as assets. Moving from exclusive practices to transformation. Uncovering the culture of your church and diocese and expanding cultural awareness and sensitivity to make the environment your create more welcoming. Understanding how your upbringing and personal experiences affect your outlook.
SAFEGUARDING GOD'S CHILDREN TRAINING - Session A, 3 parts - Carol Connell & Caitilin Embree
Canonically required training for all church leadership. If you have not had the training before, this is a good time to get it.
WORSHIP LEADER - 3 parts - Canon Liz Beasley
This workshop will teach people how lead Morning (or Evening) Prayer in their congregations. The training is open to anyone, but in order to be licensed as a Worship Leader after the training, a person needs to already be a Lector (read the lessons) in his or her congregation, and to have the endorsement of the clergy in charge of the congregation.

Ministry with the sick is not for everyone, but it can be a joyful calling. Archdeacon Pat Reynolds addresses the work of Lay Eucharistic Ministers. This training can lead to licensing as a Eucharistic Visitor, with the endorsement of the clergy in charge of this ministry in your congregation.
