The Mission Ministries Fund

The Mission Ministries Fund of the Diocese of Hawai'i's annual Budget, accepts applications from congregations that want to initiate or continue support of ministries to the needy.  Mission Ministries advocates for the marginalized, voiceless, dispossessed, needy, oppressed or imprisoned, through partnerships within the diocese, the larger Anglican Communion, and with other faith and secular organizations, local, national, and global.

By mandate passed at the Annual Meeting of the Convention in 2006, 0.7% of the Diocese of Hawai'i's annual budget is allocated to community and international development programs.  These monies, formerly sent directly to Episcopal Relief and Development (ER&D) to be a vehicle for global funding, are now our source for local ministry.  Examples of types of ministries eligible for funding are those that minister to the homeless, hungry, ill, frail, undereducated or disadvantaged. A description of the fund may be found on page 13 of the diocesan budget.

Congregations interested in applying for funding may consult Lot Lau, Chair of the Mission Department of Diocesan Council, by calling the Bishop's Office at (808) 536-7776, extension 302, or toll-free for neighbor islanders at (800) 522-8418.

A copy of the current application form is available here.
