March 12, 2010 9:00 am - March 14, 2010 5:00 pm at Parish of St. Clement

Internationally acclaimed New Testament scholar Dr. Marcus Borg will be presenting at St Clement’s on March 12, 13, and 14. Borg is the author of such books as The Heart of ChristianityMeeting Jesus for the First Time, and Jesus: Uncovering the Life, Teachings and Relevance of a Religious Revolutionary. The Sunday morning adult group at St. Clement's is currently reading The Last Week, a book about the last days of Jesus that he authored with John Dominic Crossan.

Borg will be making a general presentation Friday evening at 7:00, including time for questions and answers. That presentation is titled, “Two Visions of Christianity Today.” Saturday, he will be presenting a three-part series from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. entitled “Being Christian in the 21stCentury.” On Sunday morning, he’ll be presenting from 8:30–10:00 a.m. on “Open Hearts and Thin Places.”

All presentations will include time for Q&A. The Saturday series of presentations includes a registration fee of $75 for the entire day, or $50 for the morning or afternoon. Registration may be made through a special page on the parish website, or by calling the Parish of St Clement at 955-7745. Checks, cash, and credit cards are welcome (Visa and MasterCard only) and will be accepted the day of the event. Clergy are encouraged to apply for continuing education funds from the Diocese.

This is a unique experience for Christians in Hawai‘i to hear one of the top Biblical scholars of the late 20th century and early 21st century. It’s definitely worth blocking out these times, hearing Dr. Borg in person, and having the opportunity to ask him questions.
