A journey through Good Friday to Easter morning at Camp Mokule’ia
April 6 - 8, 2012
Using a variety of experiences, participants can re-create for themselves the extraordinary time from Jesus’ crucifixion until his resurrection.
This Holy Week experience will begin Friday evening with Stations of the Cross, and continue through Saturday with daytime opportunities for meditation, reflection and re-creation. The evening brings the all-night vigil around the campfire. Pre-dawn Sunday will see a renewal of baptismal vows at the water's edge, and the first rays of sunlight will be welcomed with the celebration of Easter Eucharist.
People are invited to come and participate in all or any portion of the weekend experience.
Built into Saturday’s schedule are large blocks of time set aside for meditation and reflection. There will be a number of resources available to support you in your journey. You are also encouraged to bring with you any tools that may assist you in this spiritual time of preparation and waiting.
Friday evening through Saturday, there will be a self-sustaining soup pot and bread bowl. People are invited to nourish themselves as the body dictates; no set meals are scheduled. (You may bring vegetables to contribute to the communal soup pot and/or additional food to meet your own needs.) Coffee and hot water will be available throughout the weekend. Sunday after the Eucharist, you are invited to a celebratory breakfast provided by the camp staff.
Overnight housing for one or both nights is available. There are lodge rooms and tent sites. Lodge space is limited and a free-will donation is customary to offset the actual expense involved with the room. Campsites are available at no expense.
Please join in this wonderful opportunity to “Be There” during the most seminal event in our relationship with Jesus the Christ, our redeemer and brother.
