6th ANNUAL ALL ANGELS JAZZ FESTIVAL ON KAUA'I
St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Lihue, Kaua'i, one of the fastest growing churches in the Episcopal Diocese of Hawai'i, will host the 6th Annual All Angels Jazz Festival on February 3 - 5, 2012. The sacred Jazz Festival attracts almost 1,000 Episcopalians and music lovers from the neighboring islands, the U.S. Mainland, Canada and beyond.
The festival consists of two concerts and two Jazz Masses. On Friday evening, February 3, the first concert at 7:00 p.m., features Jazz Saxophonist Horace Alexander Young, with the Gospel Divas, four extraordinary female gospel vocalists.
The second concert will be held Saturday evening, February 4, at 7:00 p.m., and features Hawaiian vocalist and bassist, Bruce Hamada, with pianist Jim Howard, along with the Hot Club of Hulaville, a highly acclaimed 6-piece gypsy jazz band.
Sunday's Jazz Masses at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., feature a 24-voice choir of Kauai's best singers and All-Star Jazz Band, vocal soloists, and the Reverend Jimmy D. Hunter.
The All Angels Jazz Festival is the beginning of a week-long celebration of creative liturgy and congregational development. Following the Jazz Festival, St. Michael's will host a workshop with the Rev. William Miller on February 7 - 9. The conference is called "Net: How Real Churches Really Grow", based on Miller's forthcoming book by the same title.
