Communication in Our Congregations

8:30 a.m.: Gather
9:00 a.m.: Time with Bishop Bob
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Program with a break for lunch
This is the semiannual meeting of the priests of the Diocese for collegiality, education, and conversation with the Bishop.
The program will be on communication and how it affects our own relationships with parishioners and the relationships within our congregations. The focus will be on communication skills and values development that can transform or strengthen the culture and relationships of the parish.
The leader will be Dr. Kahu Kaleo Patterson, President of the Pacific Justice and Reconciliation Center. The center has a peace center and programs in Chinatown and throughout O'ahu. It also runs a Center for Indigenous Leadership in Peacemeking at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa. Kahu Patterson has served several Hawaiian Churches in the last 25 years as an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. He is a graduate of Bangor Theological Seminary in Maine and Chicago Theological Seminary in Illinois. For the last two years he has been the environmental compliance administrator for HART, Hawaii Authority of Rapid Transit, and oversees the developments of protecting the Iwi Kupuna and other cultural resources along the proposed project's 21-mile corridor. He is married to Nancy, has five kids, and lots of grandkids.
