Happening is a wonderful weekend of fun, fellowship, sharing, caring and experiencing God's love. The weekend is designed to deepen one's faith and help young people understand what it means to be a Christian in the world today. Young people from all over the Diocese work and pray together to make each Happening a success. There are talks, singing, worship, small group discussions, fun games and a few surprises. It is an experience that will bless you for a lifetime.

Here are some responses from Happeners themselves, when asked the question, "What is Happening?"

·        A new beginning....

·        An opportunity to have fun with your faith....

·        A good place to find yourself....

·        Infinitely more than we can ask for....

·        Coming together as strangers and becoming friends in Christ by the end of the weekend.

The Happening movement believes that Jesus Christ has made and will continue to make a difference in a person’s life and in the world we all live in. Happening does not impose any new type of spirituality, however, it does provide a method through which a young person's spirituality can be nourished and shared in fellowship with other teenagers.

The purpose of Happening is to concentrate on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ and to seriously examine "Faith" in an atmosphere of love. Happening helps a young person see that Christianity is meaningful in everyday life, that it can penetrate and transform life at home, at school, and in the world. Happening shows how Christianity can keep pace with changing times; including the ever-changing world we live in today.

What is Happening like?

Happening is an informal time apart from the busy world around us. It's a time to get in touch with your self; in the light of love of Jesus Christ. It's a time to make new friends with other young people who share similar concerns and questions...A reassuring discovery of the more important things in life.

Many young people say that their Happening Weekend was the best time of their life...and quite often, it has proved to be a turning point for them. Careful planning, prayers, and preparation help make this possible.

A Happening weekend is just a beginning. The whole focus of it is to gently move closer to God during the three-day program and to continue to grow in the Christian way of life after the weekend is over.
